However, Mitsubishi gave up on the development on the way, so two companies, Aichi and Nakajima, competed to develop a prototype. Aichi has adopted an elliptical tapered wing with aerodynamically superior flat shape of all-metal low-wing single-blade, main wing and tail wing.
