The 7.7cm Feldkanone was introduced in 1916 with a longer gun barrel providing greater range than the previous 1896 n/a 7.7cm made by Krupp. Mounted on a howitzer carriage the gun was designed to replace the 1896n/a although both remained in service during WWI.
