Easy to produce and relatively cheap was characterized by high operational effectiveness. the first versions produced by Northrop called F-5A Freedom Fighter were able thanks to the two General Electric J85-GE-13 engines to reach the maximum speed of 1700 km/h. Armed with two 20mm guns. Installed on the muzzle the F-5 was a real multirole aircraft as it could have an offensive load for both air defense missions and ground attack. the mix of its characteristics guaranteed it a rapid spread and its use by numerous Air Forces.
