The Mirage F-1 in the hunting version entered the service of the French Air Force in late 1973 replacing the older Mirage III within a few years. Compared to its predecessor the Mirage F-1 is characterised by the use of arrow wings that significantly improved flight performance and maneuverability. Over the years the Mirage F-1 has been continuously developed by upgrades to the onboard systems avionics and weapon systems significantly extending its operational life.
