M274 were fitted with weapons during the Vietnam War including M60 7.62mm machine guns, M2HB 0.50cal machine guns, 105mm M40 recoilless rifle and TOW anti tank missiles. The M40 has a M8C 0.50 cal spotting rifle mounted on it and was designed for direct fire only.
