The M4A2 was the basic Sherman with a welded hull and a 75mm M3 gun. By fitting the M1 Dozer Blade, these tanks were capable of fighting and clearing a path through rubble for other vehicles. Initially used to break through the hedgerows of the bocage, Dozer tanks suffered heavy casualties at the hands of German anti tank gunners.
